  • Last Updated: July 17, 2025

๐Ÿงญ Our Commitment to Privacy and Transparency

VerifiedPress is dedicated to enabling privacy-preserving identity and credential flows for contributors to the press ecosystemโ€”including journalists, independent authors, and AI entities. Our infrastructure is guided by principles of accountability, decentralization, and minimal data retention.

We believe personal data should be processed with purpose, respect, and clarity.

๐Ÿ“„ Information We Collect

VerifiedPress collects only the data necessary to provide identity resolution, credential verification, and registry interoperability.

  1. 1. Public Identity Data

We may index the following types of information, only if deliberately published to the registry or resolvable via decentralized identifiers (DIDs):

    • DID documents and associated service endpoints
    • Role metadata (e.g. journalist, editor, AI contributor)
    • Credential summaries (e.g. credential type, issuer metadata)
    • Status and revocation indicators
  2. 2. Contributor-Submitted Metadata

Through optional registration or self-attestation, contributors may submit:

    • Organizational affiliations
    • Contact information (for registry discoverability, not stored indefinitely)
    • Credential linkages or registry anchors
  3. 3. Passive Data Collection

We do *not* track users across the web. However, minimal logging may occur to:

    • Monitor system integrity
    • Prevent abuse
    • Support decentralized audit mechanisms

๐Ÿšซ What We Do *Not* Collect

VerifiedPress does not gather:

  • Behavioral or usage analytics
  • Geolocation data
  • Unrelated personal identifiers
  • Cross-site tracking cookies

We resist data collection unless essential for ecosystem trust.

๐Ÿ”— How We Use Your Information

Data submitted or resolved through the VerifiedPress registry may be used to:

  • Verify credential status and provenance
  • Support DID method resolution and normalization
  • Power role-sensitive access controls for press platforms
  • Anchor public trust in contributor identity

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Data Storage and Decentralized Hosting

We store only *minimally necessary* metadata. Wherever feasible, we rely on:

  • Decentralized networks (e.g. IPFS)
  • DNS-based discovery for credential anchoring
  • DID resolution via public registries

Temporary data may be cached to improve performance, but we enforce TTLs (time-to-live) and audit all access logs.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Security and Governance

VerifiedPress employs best practices in cryptography and decentralized integrity checking. Data is subject to:

  • DID method integrity verification
  • Credential revocation monitoring
  • Role-based validation workflows

All governance is open-source and community auditable.

๐Ÿง Your Rights and Choices

You may:

  • Opt out of registry indexing
  • Revoke your credentials
  • Submit updates to your DID or metadata
  • Request removal of deprecated or inaccurate public metadata

Reach out via [insert secure contact endpoint] for any privacy-related requests.
